Summer garden event ideas

Summer is a great time of year to make use of your garden especially now that most people will be hesitant to leave their homes to explore public venues.

Whilst social restrictions begin to ease you may still be reluctant to head out to celebrate in these difficult times. The idea of a garden event has become more appealing than ever and I wanted to share some different kind of ideas to explore this summer:

Inflatable Pub

Bring the #pub straight to you. Inflatable pub's mimic the feel of a real pub, creating a great atmosphere with its own wooden bar and fireplace to make you feel like you are in your favourite local pub. If you are looking for a different way to celebrate a wedding reception, corporate event or birthday then this is guaranteed to impress your guests.

At your very own pub, you could run a series of activities as part of your event such as a cocktail making class, a #quiz, run a #karaoke competition or screen your favourite sporting game to entertain your guests.

Hosting your very own #Wimbledon Tennis

It is that time of year where we should all be tuning into the #BBC for a fortnight of exciting tennis. However, sadly the championships have been cancelled and organisers have encouraged the British public to recreate their own homemade tennis events #WimbledonRecreated. Whether you typically watch the event from the comfort of your own home or at the Wimbledon grounds, get inspired and involved with the following tips:

  • Prepare your #grass, measure out the surface, construct the net and recreate a makeshift tennis court

  • Assign family and friends to the roles of umpire, ball boys/girls and players

  • Prepare a fully stocked refreshment stall with pimms, champagne and more pimms!

  • Set up your #strawberry's and #cream counter. Perhaps go the extra mile and allow guests to pick the strawberry's fresh from your own strawberry bush!

  • #Novelties to bring fun and interactivity to the event. Ask your guests to arrive dressed as their favourite tennis player, buy face cut outs of tennis legends, and get yourself a Polaroid camera to create your own Wimbledon photography area with props.

Sure, there’s a bit of elbow grease involved to get this all set up, but it beats standing in a queue for 24 hours!

Host a special dinner party

It might sound simple but if you put some real thought behind it you can create a truly unique and authentic dinner party to celebrate a special occasion.

Whether you are brave enough to cook the entire meal yourself or if you have a bigger budget then you may opt to use the services of an external caterer. Perhaps hire a waiter for the evening to do all the serving so you can just sit back and enjoy. Presentation is key, use dimmed spotlighting to create a relaxed ambience. Decorate the table with flowers and use your best cutlery, if using an external caterer they can supply all of this for you. Use cushions instead of chairs to add warmth to your table to make you feel like you at the beach somewhere!

Hire a musician such as a violinist or saxophonist to set the scene. If you want to add some further excitement then you could turn the party into a murder mystery event and there are multiple ways this can be done by bringing in external actors to run the show.
